- Your own kids
- Kids at Sunday school
- Christian youth group
- Adult small group
There’s also a free printable worksheet to make it even easier for you to organize – keep reading to download your copy.
Here’s how to plan it:
Resources
- Bibles (ideally NIV)
- Cameras
- Worksheet with questions on (see below)
- Pens
Preparation
None, other than ensuring you have all the resources listed above.
Teams
This Bible scavenger hunt will be most fun played in small teams of 3-5.
If you only have a handful of people in your group though, it can be played individually or in pairs.
Instructions
Give each team / player a copy of the scavenger hunt questions worksheet and a pen.
You’ll also need to make sure that they have a Bible and camera available – either you could provide this or this is something that the players might have with them, especially because cell phone cameras are fine to use.
Advise them that this activity consists of two tasks:
- First, they have to use their Bible to look up answers to the 15 questions and write those down on the worksheet
- Once they know all the answers, it turns into a photo scavenger hunt – they have to go and take photos of the 15 different items
Arrange a time that they have to be completed by and then set them answering and hunting!
Bible Translation
These questions have been created based on the NIV translation, so it’s best to try and have teams get their answers from that version, otherwise they may end up looking for different items to the ones you have on the list.
Points
There are three sets of points available:
- 1 point for each photo they manage to take
- 1 bonus point for the best photo of each item
- 2 bonus points for the team that took the 15 photos first (if any team actually managed this within the time limit)
Best Photo
As mentioned above, there’s a total of 15 bonus points available based on the best photo for each item. This can be decided however you like, but here are some suggestions:
- For how artistic a picture is
- For how funny it is
- For getting random members of the public involved
Let the players know beforehand how you’re planning on awarding the bonus points so that they can bear this in mind when taking their pictures.
