If you want to plan a fun outdoor activity for younger children, here’s a great backyard scavenger hunt for kids that includes a free printable list.
Here’s how to play it:
Resources
- Scavenger hunt list (See below)
- Pen
Preparation
None, other than printing off a copy of the list.
Instructions
Give your kids a copy of the list. Explain that their task is to find all of the items from the list in your backyard.
This can either be a scavenger hunt where they have to collect all the items, or just an observational one where they simply have to find them all.
If you’re going to have them collecting items on the list, make sure they’re careful as one of the items is ‘something sharp’.
List
Here’s a list of 15 items for your kids to find. You may want to amend the list if you don’t have some of the items in your own backyard.
If you do have all these things in your yard though, there’s also a link below to a free printable copy of the list. There are two copies of the list on the page – this is to reduce the amount of paper you need to use if you have two or more kids.
