You may be wondering how we know so much about scavenger hunts. It’s because we wrote the book on it – quite literally!
In 2012, Youth Workin’ It (which this site is part of) published 52 Scavenger Hunt Ideas. This book contains enough activities for you to be able to do a different scavenger hunt every single week of the year.
Every idea provides all you need to organize each activity:
- What type of scavenger hunt it is (item, photo, observation, etc)
- A list of resources
- Any preparation needed (usually none!)
- Instructions
- A scavenger hunt list
The best thing of all is that each list can be photocopied (if you have the paperback version) or printed (if you have the digital version). This means that you can make as many copies of the lists as you need – perfect for scavenger hunts with lots of players, like youth groups or at parties.
There are also many different lists you can make use of. Here are just some of the themes you’ll find in the book:
- Mall
- Christmas
- Nature
- Valentine’s Day
- Pirate
- St Patrick’s Day
- Computer
- Thanksgiving
- Bible
- Grocery store
- And many more!
