30th Birthday Scavenger Hunt List Ideas

Dated By

Are you or one of your friends turning 30 and you’re trying to come up with ideas of what to do or looking for party themes? Then why not try using these 30th birthday scavenger hunt list ideas.

This activity is simple to plan and organize, but can provide hours of fun. It’s also a great activity to do during the day of someone’s 30th birthday, if you’ll also be going out in the evening to celebrate.

Aim

This game has a twist compared to normal scavenger hunts. Players still have to collect all of the items on the list, but they have to collect 30 of each item.

Needless to say, this 30th birthday scavenger hunt is more difficult than a normal one, as players not only have to find and collect 30 of each type of item listed, but also keep track of them all and transport them to wherever has been designated as the meeting place.

Teams

If it’s just a small celebration, this might be an activity that can be done individually. If possible though, we’d recommend doing it in pairs or small teams – this will make it more fun and will give people an opportunity to get to know each other better.

It’s therefore a perfect opportunity if you want to do some matchmaking for two of your friends who don’t know each other!

Time Limit

Set a time limit that everyone has to be completed by. Due to the large number of items that will need collecting, you might want to plan to spend at least 2 hours doing this scavenger hunt.

Make sure you have everyone’s cellphone numbers though, so that if one team returns having completed the list successfully, you can contact the other players / teams to let them know.

Budget

There’s a good chance that players aren’t going to own all of the items on the list. Allow each team to have a budget of $30 that they’re allowed to spend in order to purchase some of the items if they wish. Have them contribute this money themselves, so if you have teams of three people, they only have to contribute $10 each.

Points

Award one point for every set of 30 items that they manage to collect – this means there’s a total of 30 points on offer. However, for every $3 of their budget that they spend, they’ll lose 1 point.

If two teams completed their list, with one team not spending anything and the other team spending their entire budget, the first would end with 30 points while the second would end with 20 points. They’ll therefore need to weigh up carefully whether it’s worth spending anything.

Tiebreaker

You may have two or more teams that finish with the same number of points. We’ve therefore listed a tiebreaker below that yuo could use – take photos of 30 different members of the public pulling funny faces. Teams should therefore be trying to get these photos while they go around collecting all the other items.

In case more than one team manages to complete this tiebreaker, you’ll have to pick a winner based on whose photos were the most creative or made you laugh the most.

Items

You could create your own list of items for players / teams to collect, but below we’ve produced our own list that you can use.

Beneath that is a link to download a copy of the list – this is free and can be printed as many times as you like.
