Why let your kids have all the fun?!
Here are 5 Easter scavenger hunt ideas for adults that are perfect for helping you organize some fun activities for the not-so-young but young at heart.
1. Charity Scavenger Hunt
Make a difference in your local community this Easter while also having some fun with your adult friends.
For this idea, the adults will all need to contribute a bit of money to the game – about $5-$10 each depending on how many will be participating.
Split the adults into teams and give them a list of Easter-themed items. They have to pool their money, then go and hunt for all of the items on the list so that they can create some baskets. The team to finish first will be the winner.
The baskets can then be given to a local children’s hospital, group home, women’s shelter or another charity in your local area working with women and/or children. Contact the charity in advance to find out what items would be most beneficial for the people they serve, but here are some ideas of items that could be included on the scavenger hunt list:
- Basket
- Easter grass
- Plastic eggs
- Cadbury’s Creme Eggs

2. Indoor Easter Egg Hunt With Your Kids
If you’re a parent, spend some time with your kids putting candy inside plastic eggs. Then, instead of you hiding the eggs around the house for your kids to find, have them hide the eggs for you to find.
Your kids will love this reverse Easter scavenger hunt idea, especially if they manage to pick some good hiding places that you’re not able to find straight away.
3. Outdoor Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
To prepare, get some plastic eggs and pick out two colors to use. Next, plan some places in your neighborhood to hide the eggs. These should either be places that people wouldn’t normally come across while going about their everyday business, or enlist the help of some of your neighbors and leave the eggs in their front yards.
Once you’ve picked the locations the Easter eggs will be hidden in, create a route that you want to take. Write out clues to the next location on slips of paper, then put these inside the eggs. It’s worth numbering the eggs with a marker so you know what order to hide them in.
Create these scavenger hunt clues for the route in both directions – put one route in one colored set of eggs and the route heading the opposite way round in the other color. That way, the teams will travel the same distance, but will be doing it from opposite directions so they’re not just following each other around the course.
On the day of the hunt, split the adults into two teams. Give each team their first clue and send them off. The winners will be the team that makes it back to the original location first having found all their eggs.

5. Indoor Easter Egg Hunt With Your Partner
Instead of having your kids hide the eggs like in the second of our ideas listed above, hide the eggs for your partner yourself. Hide them in some really obscure places so that they’re searching all around the house and it’s not too easy for them.
The hiding places will vary depending on the layout of your house, what rooms and furniture you have, etc, but here are 10 ideas of difficult to find Easter egg hiding places:
- In a kitchen drawer beneath items
- Inside a pillow or cushion
- In the attic
- Balanced on top of a ceiling fan
- Behind some books on a bookshelf
- Inside the microwave
- Inside a board game box
- In a coat pocket
- Taped on the underside of a dining table
- Buried beneath the soil in a plant pot
In case your partner struggles to find the Easter eggs, it might be a good idea to prepare some clues or riddles in advance so that you can give some hints.
Make sure you also make a list of where you hid them all, otherwise you might forget where some of them are yourself!
