Pi Day Scavenger Hunt Worksheet

Dated By

If you’re planning activities for Pi Day, why not organize a Pi Day scavenger hunt? It’s great fun and perfect for kids, teens and adults.

What Is Pi Day?

Pi Day is held on March 14 each year to commemorate Pi.

Why March 14? The first three digits of Pi are 3, 1 and 4, so 3.14 – March 14. You can find out more about Pi Day here.

Scavenger Hunt Idea

For this Pi Day activity, you’d be organizing a photo scavenger hunt. This is where the players have to go around and take photos of items on a list, rather than physically collecting them like you did with traditional scavenger hunts.

Resources Needed

  • Pi Day scavenger hunt worksheet (see below)
  • Cameras (cellphone cameras are fine)
  • Pens

Winner

The winning player (or team) is the one who either completes the list first, or who manages to take photos of the most items within the allocated amount of time for the activity.

Items

So how do you make this activity a Pi Day scavenger hunt? By having the list of items that they have to photograph Pi-themed.

We’ve produced a list of items below that you can use with your group to show you what we mean. The numbers next to the amount of items that they have to find are the value of Pi to 19 decimal points.

3 different flavored pies
1 slinky
4 heart-shaped cushions
1 stretch limo
5 shop workers waving at you
9 different cellphones
2 Ford trucks
6 owls
5 people with blond hair
3 clouds
5 different translations of the Bible
8 bubbles
9 umbrellas
7 grey T-shirts
9 bottles of Coca Cola
3 flashlights
2 pieces of clothing each featuring all the colors of the rainbow
3 dogs
8 different DVDs starring Arnold Schwarzenegger
4 bicycles

Rules

Each item listed has to appear within one photo. For example, there has to be one photo with 8 Arnie DVDs, rather than 8 photos with one Arnie DVD in each.

Free Worksheet

To make this activity even easier for you to plan, you can download a free printable Pi Day worksheet below featuring all of these items. You can therefore save the worksheet if you like for future use as well.
